Floating with the Spirit - Women's Canoe Camp

Are you a woman who needs a break from the cares of life? If you want to meet interesting women and share your faith, your struggles and your joys, this is the camp for you. If you want to laugh and play and be like a kid again for a few days, this is your camp. Any life experience you have will contribute to the richness of the camp. Women from age 20 to age 60+ have enjoyed this camp. We will canoe downstream on local rivers, camp out in tents, enjoy good food, and share stories around the campfire.

Carolyn Mann (30+ yrs. Dir.) has directed more than 15 canoe camps for the Ohio Conference. She is an ordained UCC clergywoman living in Brinkhaven, Ohio. Carolyn is a member of St. John’s UCC, Glenmont, Ohio.

Enjoy Camp            NEW!

Come enjoy Pilgrim Hills and God’s creation! This camp is designed for adults—singles, couples or intergenerational (children under 18 must be with adult). We will hike, fish, relax and share a campfire each evening. A canoe trip is planned for one day. Schedule this Sunday through Wednesday getaway now!

Remembering Camp             NEW!

Did you go to camp as a youth? Do you wish you could recapture (relive, recreate) those memories. This is the camp for you. Come back and explore God’s creation with hiking, swimming, enjoying the starlit night. Spend some time doing crafts, meeting new people and sharing your faith journey.

We encourage you to participate in Conference-sponsored retreats held at Pilgrim Hills and Templed Hills.

However, they are not part of the summer camp program and do not qualify for any camp discounts.  For more information, click the links below.

Lantern Fellowship

This twice-a-year event gathers women of all ages for a faith centered “must do for me” weekend at Pilgrim Hills. Attendees find their faith renewed, courage strengthened, friendships deepened and peace attained. Enjoy good food, warm hospitality and meet new friends in faith.

A Day with God and Self

A Day with God and Self is a day-long retreat for educators, clergy and laity at Pilgrim Hills. Each retreat has opportunities for personal reflection, silence, corporate worship, relaxation and refreshment, individual and/or small group spiritual guidance and encountering various spiritual disciplines. This year we are looking at the teachings of Teresa of Avila. Attend one day or as many as you wish.

Grandparent/Grandchild Camps I, II and III

These camps are specially geared for grandchildren ages 4-9 and their grandparents. Each day includes Bible lessons, crafts, games, fishing, swimming, and campfires. Each family stays together in a private room unless you ask to lodge with another family. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with your grandchildren while you pass on your heritage of faith and experience, enjoy nature, and fellowship with other families. These camps fill up fast, so register early!

All Grandparent/Grandchild Camps are 3 nights and 4 days.

Mark Frey (9th yr. Dir.) likes camp, especially hiding the “red flag,” singing camp songs, and laughing at silly jokes!  When not camping, he pastors The Bath Church in Akron, Ohio, is married to Margee, and keeps track of two grown children and a dog.  He looks forward to seeing many old friends and to making new friends this summer!

Gale Green is the pastor at First UCC, Marion, Ohio and is a 4th year director.  She has two grandsons, Zane (11) and Kage (1).  She enjoys singing, storytelling, crafts, and campfires, and looks forward to another summer of fun with the grandparents/grandchildren at Templed Hills.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR GRANDPARENTS!!

EVERY ADULT AND CHILD attending Grandparent/Grandchild and Labor Day Family Camps needs their own separate registration form and deposit. A DEPOSIT must be paid for EVERY ADULT AND CHILD registering for these camps.  

Deposit amounts:  children age 12 and under - $30; youth over 12 and adults - $75.

Labor Day Family Weekend

Consider a fun and faith-filled long weekend! Make Templed Hills a special part of your family, and help youngsters discover the enjoyment of coming to camp. Like a mini-vacation, this camp offers a relaxed pace, flexible schedule, and special times of sharing with other families. We’ll take walks, make crafts, play, sing songs, and have lots of amazing good times for everyone! We’ll have time set aside for adults, too, so we can discuss concerns and share ideas.

Director

Karen Jamison is the Youth Director for Nashville UCC, West Milton, Ohio.  Karen works at the Miami county YMCA and has been involved in aquatic instruction for 30 years.  She is a retired paramedic/firefighter.

Bruce Jamison is a member of the Pleasant Hill UCC and currently serves as SONKA moderator.  He is a Deputy Chief of Police in Piqua.  During his career in Piqua he served as an Evidence Technician and spent ten years as a detective specializing in crimes against children.
