The Next Church:  Envisioning Christians of the Future

In the continued effort on the part of mainline Christian denominations to appeal to the younger generation and increase attendance, the 2009 Ohio Ministries Convocation will include a cadre of speakers who will address questions such as: 

• What are mega churches doing that attract so many people? 

• What might mainline denominations learn? 

• How do we build bridges?

• How do we step out of our own comfort zone? 

• How might churches better communicate in their technology?

Speakers

Rev. Rich Nathan, senior pastor, Vineyard Church, Columbus, and author of Who is my Enemy and Empowered Evangelicals

Mr. Michael Buckingham, founder and creative director, Holy Cow Creative design studio. He is a a strategic church communications expert who wants to link arms with the church and take part in ministry and the way it is communicated.

Rev. Gary Gibson, pastor, Florence United Methodist Church, Florence, Kentucky, will address the topic of “The Emerging Church."

Rev. D.G. Hollums, founder of Th3 Waters, a network of small house churches meeting in public places

Worship and dinner on Monday will be held at Vineyard Church of Columbus on Cooper Road, Westerville; the rest of the event will be held at the University Plaza Hotel, 3110 Olentangy River Rd., Columbus.
