Northwest Ohio Disaster Response Coordinator Terry Tangeman, from Wapakoneta, with new mud-out trailer and some of its equipment. Terry and a team of volunteers have spent countless hours since flooding began a year ago helping NW Ohio residents clean out their basements so that rebuilding can begin. |

July 2008 The Ohio Conference Disaster Response Team needs more emergency response equipment. Even the recent purchase of a third commercial dehumidifier hasn’t kept up with the need. Repeated, severe flooding in Northwest Ohio over the past year made the purchases necessary, and we need even more. All of our equipment, including the newest, has been in almost constant use since the August 2007 flooding. The equipment—dehumidifiers, pumps and fans—is industrial sized and quite expensive. It has been noted that we are the only group in the area with the ability to pump out, mud out and dehumidify homes and basements without charge to the homeowners, who do not need to be church members. Purchases such as the newest dehumidifier are made possible by generous special designated gifts. Thank you so much for helping to ensure that this very needed ministry work can continue. To donate toward the purchase of equipment, please make checks out to the Northwest Ohio Association and send to 416 Wentz St., Tiffin, OH 44883. Please note emergency response equipment in the memo line. |

Basement in northwest Ohio where flood recovery workers have made good use use of equipment from the new Disaster Response mud-out trailer. Basements in eight homes in Bellevue have been cleaned and dried recently with help from Disaster Response volunteers and equipment. The trailer provides a commercial dehumidifier, heavy-duty fan, large pump and tools used to remove water and mud. |

Hundreds of kits delivered to flood victims - June 2008
230 Disaster Response kits from Cincinnati and Dayton churches were combined with kits stored in northwest Ohio and delivered by Disaster Response volunteers to Church World Service in Elkhart, Indiana. Your gifts made it possible to give a total of 592 clean-up kits and 350 personal care kits to people whose homes were damaged in the area’s severe floods. THANK YOU!! Help replenish our supply of kits. Get the recipe for "the right stuff" here! |
