Back Bay Mission is located in Biloxi, Mississippi and was founded in 1922. Its mission statement reads:
"Back Bay Mission, a community ministry of the United Church of Christ, serves the Mississippi Gulf Coast and the wider church community by faithful witness for social justice and compassionate service to the poor and marginalized."
Back Bay Mission fulfills this purpose through emergency assistance, case management, low-income housing rehabilitation and recovery, affordable housing development, outreach and permanent supportive housing for persons experiencing homelessness, and advocacy efforts. It hosts over 1000 United Church of Christ volunteers annually, primarily to assist in housing rehabilitation efforts in the Gulf Coast community.

![]() Council For Health and Human Service Ministries of the United Church of Christ Our Mission Statement The mission of the Council for Health and Human Service Ministries of the United Church of Christ is to sustain and advance the work of healing and service as a ministry of the church of Jesus Christ embodied in its member ministries, the United Church of Christ and the church universal. Serving More than 1 Million People a Day CHHSM (it rhymes with “prism”) traces its history back to 1934. Today CHHSM is an independently governed, non-profit membership association of 76 UCC-related corporations that operate 360 facilities and programs that provide: Primary and Acute Health Care Services (15 members) Services to Persons with Disabilities (19 members) Services to Children, Youth and Families (30 members) Services to the Aging (294 members) Charitable Grant-making Foundations (2 members) Every day, CHHSM member ministries provide services to more than 1 million people and, annually, expend over $149 million for uncompensated and charity care. Empowering Those Who Serve CHHSM provides a variety of services that enhance the capacity of CHHSM member ministries to better serve those in need. Member Relations offers skills building seminars for emerging and experienced professionals; networking opportunities to strengthen relationships among CHHSM members and within the United Church of Christ; and marketing and communications services. Leadership Development provides Walking the Talk, a program of customized consulting; special forums for CEOs and Trustees; and governance education. Business Services include CHHSM Store, a group purchasing plan; a partnership with the Pension Boards-UCC for a variety of low-cost employee insurance and retirement benefits; a partnership with United Church Funds to enable member ministries to maximize their investments; and a partnership with the UCC Financial Development Ministry Team to facilitate planned giving by individuals to CHHSM member ministries. Emmaus
Homes Arising from faith in Jesus Christ, the mission of Emmaus Homes is to enhance the quality of life for adults of all beliefs who have cognitive, intellectual and other developmental disabilities. A joint mission of families, staff and volunteers, Emmaus enhances the quality of life for adults with developmental disabilities by providing compassionate care with an emphasis on safety, health and happiness. Emmaus is a faith-based organization serving 250 men and women in five Missouri counties. Understanding the changing needs of an aging population, Emmaus provides care for individuals of all ages through a variety of residential options, including campus living and community homes. Social and recreational programs provide opportunities for residents to learn new skills, make friends and become involved in their community through activities designed around their unique goals and needs. Read about Hope Homes' new logo and website Hope Homes is a faith based non-profit organization whose purpose is to develop and provide housing, residential services, supported living services, and day services for persons with developmental disabilities and other special needs. Currently, Hope Homes has developed 22 homes throughout Ohio and 2 day centers in the Akron area. Partnerships, contractual relationships, and affiliations include the Ohio Conference, United Church of Christ; the Synod of the Covenant, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.); the Council for Health and Human Service Ministries, United Church of Christ; the Presbyterian Health, Education and Welfare Association, Presbyterian Church (USA); and Federal, State, and County Agencies. Hope Homes offers a variety of residential services in group home or other independent settings. Services generally focus on teaching and promoting personal choice, and provision of needed support in areas such as benefit maintenance, budgeting, supervision, health and personal care, shopping, meals, housekeeping, laundry, clothing, use of public transportation, socialization, and recreation. Hope Day Centers provide individualized on-site and community experiences in a structured, well supervised environment. Day Center services are generally provided for individuals who due to age or physical impairments no longer wish to work or participate in special employment programs.
